Moving Up To A Higher Table.

One of my poker buddies called me tonight and was bugging me about only playing the .50/$1 poker tables.

I got him started playing poker several months after I started and he is now playing the $3/$6 tables.

Of course the bonuses are easier to clear at that level. So he can go to almost any poker site and easily clear any bonus they offer, while I am still hunting and pecking around to find the few poker sites that have bonuses that I can clear.

So I decided to take the plunge, I have enough money in my account to play some higher tables. But the problem is I always change my game when I move up then I take a big loss and then don’t go back.

So this time I am going to do it differently. I know that if I play less than 3 tables at a time I have a real problem. Playing 3 or 4 tables and I am just fine. Playing 1 or 2 tables I start making bad plays and losing money.

So I started playing 4 of the $1/$2 tables tonight and I think I am going to go ahead and stay at this level.

One thing I noticed was that the players at this level do a lot more check raising. On the .50/$1 tables you really don’t see that much. Now I see it all the time.

At first it does kind of throw you off a bit, but I played several hundred hands tonight and ran into a lot of check raising. So I am starting to get used to it.

I only lost $20 so for my first try I am ok with that.
