Minimum Amount To Bring To The Table
I just realized that I have not been starting with enough chips at the $1/$2 tables.
You should never play with out having enough to bet the max on each card. This means in one hand it could take $24.00 so if you go under $24 you need to get off the table and come back when you have more money.
The reason is that once you start playing with less money the odds are shifted against you. Because in poker you will lose a lot of little hands and then make it up on a few big hands.
Say you flop a royal flush and you only have $5.00 several people say in and keep betting to the river. All that money in the side pot should go to you but just gave it away by playing while under funded.
Next you have to look at what is a reasonable amount to lose in a game. With $1/$2 right now I am guessing it’s around $30.00 I will lose this amount sometimes but not that often. Maybe once in 20 games.
Then the last consideration is you don’t want to be thinking about how much money you have left at the table. You need to concentrate on the cards and I have noticed that when I get down to $2 or $3 then I start looking at the money and thinking something.
Usually $20 or so will keep me from thinking about how much I have left.
This means that I need to bring about $75 to each table to play with. Less than that and it could have an impact on my game.
The main thing is to not play with less than $24 that will impact your odds and in the long run will end up costing you money.
