Calling An All-In After The Flop

Today I was playing a tournament and after the flop someone before me goes all-in, in this situation I should probably fold.  My guess is 3 out of 4 times at least.

At the very least I should be thinking about folding. And then really think hard before I call.  I just called an all-in with a set of queens and of course the all-in player had a full house.

Pre flop, who knows I have called people who went all-in with 2 7 but after the flop it has been a whole different story.  I can’t count the number of tournaments I have been knocked out of calling an all-in after the flop.

I was playing 4 tables and really didn’t see that the guy had me covered when I called, although I probably would have called anyway.

I did lay down top pair 2 times, both times I would have lost so I was happy I folded.  With a weak kicker top pair is not that great of a hand, if someone comes on very strong probably should fold that hand also.

Folding a set is something that I rarely do, but I have found that I need to start doing it a lot more.  I can fold a set if there are 4 suited cards on the board. Other than that I usually at least call to the river with a set.  

That is one nice thing about limit poker.  I have lost big going to the river with a set against a straight or a flush so many times, but over all I am still up. If I was playing no limit I would be so far in the hole now I would probably stop playing poker.
